A global telecom leader needed to protect their intellectual property in a cost effective way, allowing them entry to a target market with lower budgets and opportunity for significant market share.
No out of the box solution met the unique requirements of this leading IP telephony provider.
After a thorough evaluation of all providers in the market, KEYLOK was asked to customize their hardware key to specific requirements in a timely manner within budget and strict delivery timeframes in large volumes. KEYLOK was chosen because of market-proven software security, at the lowest price, while delivering excellent customer service and support.
An ISV had a suite (eg.. Microsoft Office) of products (eg.. separate executable files such as Excel, Word, Access, etc.) that could be run over a network and the customer needed licensing enforcement. The suite could be installed on any number of computers but was to be limited to a specific number of licenses purchased by the end-user. The customer needed to enforce licensing by suite, not knowing which executable would be running nor which user would be running a component of the suite.
As the customer searched for a solution, networking dongles were found but the session counts were tied to a single executable rather than the suite. For example, if an end-user had two programs of the suite open, then two licenses would be used. The customer required only one license to be used as both products were part of the suite.
By implementing the single session IP counting functionality of the KEYLOK network dongle, the customer allowed the end-users to install the suite on any number of workstations but only the number of licensed suites could be run at any given time. All sessions were counted based upon the IP address of the workstation running the suite as opposed to the program/executable level. So even if an end-user had four of the suite programs running at one time, the license count would only be one.
A software publisher had developed an application using FileMaker Pro and wanted to enforce licensing and protect the application from unauthorized use.
As the customer searched for a solution, no hardware based protection solutions were available from one vendor that used the FileMaker plug-in methodology.
KEYLOK worked with the customer to deliver a FileMaker Pro plug-in supporting all of the KEYLOK licensing and protection functionality. This allowed the customer to distribute its product throughout South America without the risk of illegal or unauthorized use.
